You’d think I’d learn about letting other people choose hotels. Nope. In my companion’s quest to be a cheapskate, he booked triples for him, his wife and me instead of two rooms, and picked the cheapest hotel he could find.
I’ve only had one other time where I stayed awake all night in a hotel, and that was Delta bumping me at LAX, and being sent to El Segundo (apparently they had never heard of Century Boulevard).
If he had his own car, I would have already made a beeline for a better hotel. Maybe one that didn’t have people talking outside my room for 45 minutes after 11PM. Maybe one who’s staff wouldn’t tell me that other guests waking me up isn’t their problem.
Only three more hours until the sun comes up and I can go sit in the nice, warm Skoda.
